Mickie James is of Native American heritage and was raised in a farm together with her sister Latoya in Montepelier, Virginia. James became a fan of professional wrestling due to the influence of her father who is also a certifies preofessional wrestling fanatic. Mickie started her career as a wrestler when she attended a professional wrestling school somewhere in the Washington DC area. James then became a valet for KYDA Pro Wrestling with her name Alexis Laree. There, she managed several wrestlers including Tommy Dreamer who won the KYPD Pro Heavyweight Championship. Mickie James debut fight was in an intergender tag team match with Jake Damian against the team of all American Mike Brown and Candie. She continued to wrestle in different independent circuits and trained under different wrestling schools. Mickie also worked as waitress while working in the circuits due to low salary and even posed nude in Leg Show magazine. After her lackluster appearances in the independent circuits, Mickie was signed in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and debuted in TNA's weekly pay-per-view in the Lingerie Battle Royal. James was then featured in different feuds with existing TNA stars and subsequently mad a name for herself. Her performance in TNA made ehr way to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and was drafted for a developmentalcontract and sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling. Mickie James debuted in WWE in Raw where she used her real name with the gimmick of WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus biggest fan. They teamed up and consequently, James character became obsessed with Stratus. Their relationship turned into a lesbian angle after the intimate moments between the two when they kissed in TV. When James defeated Victoria, she became the no. 1 contender fo Stratus' belt and they battled for the WWE Women's Championship. Mickie James lost the fight but continued continued to love Stratus and even confessed her love to her in the Royal Rumble. They fight again in Wrestlemania 22 and this time, Mickie James got the belt from Stratus to become the first ever WWE Diva to win a title in her Wrestlemania debut. James however lost the title to Lita when she ws defeated due to Lita's boyfriend Edge, distrating the referee which led to James' pin down. Mickie regained the belt two more times and lost it but in the April 14, 2008 edition of Raw in London, Mickie James won the title for the fourth time when she defeated WWE Diva Beth Phoenix. On June 29, 2009, Mickie became the no. 1 contender for the Divas Championship when she won the Fatal Four-Way match against Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly and Rosa Mendes. In July, 2009 during the Night of Champions, Mickie James won the Divas Championship against Maryse and she become the second ever diva to win the Woman's and Divas Championships. |
