Maria Louise Kanellis or better known in WWE as Maria, was born on February 25, 1982 in Ottawa, Illinois. Maria has shown her interest in sports in her high school days that whe played and excelled in volleyball, basketball and football.

Maria has been a fan of professional wrestling and that made her to decide to join the Raw Diva Search while she was watching and episode of WWE Raw. Maria wasn't able to get the top honors in the Diva Search but WWE signed her and placed in its training facility Ohio Vally Wrestling under head trainer Paul Heyman.

Maria was then drafted to Raw and started as a backstage interviewer. Her role as interviewer earned the ire of some wrestlers as she always asked the wrong questions. In 2005, Maria started to get physicacl in and out of the ring. She debuted in the ring on January 10, 2005 edition of Raw but defeated by Christy Hemme in a Lingerie Pillow Fight.

Maria also participated in Fulfill Your Fantasy Diva Batlle Royal for the WWE Women's Championship but was first eliminated by Mickie James and trish Stratus. Maria then participated in the non-title Diva Battle Royal at the Eddie Guerrero Tribute in Raw. She succeeded in the early goings as Maria eliminated Jillian Hall and Victoria but she herself was eliminated by Melina and trish Stratus.

In 2006, WWE Maria had her clear win against Victoria as she pinned Victoria and won the match. That win enabled Maria to participate in the Bra and Panties gauntlet Match against Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle and Ashley Massaro which Massaro came on top.

Maria then teamed up with John Cena against the team of Edge and Lita. Victoria pinned Lita when Lita was hit by the spear meant for John Cena. One month later, Maria lost to Lita in their match and Edge was about to spear Maria when Mick Foley came and helped her.

Maria then went to win the Fatal Four Way Bra and Panties Match against Victoria, Candice Michelle and Torrie Wilson to advance to the semi-finals in the Women's Champioship Tournament. however, Maria was eliminated by Lita in their semi-finals match.

Maria's beautfiful body also made her to appear in Playboy magazine's cover. This after former Playboy cover girl Ashley Massaro returned to WWE and convinced Maria to do so. Maria participated in Wrestlemania XXIV in a Playboy Bunny Mania Lumberjack Match but was defeated by Phoenix and Melina.

Maria was then drafted to SmackDown! and made her debut with a win against Victoria. She then earned the number one contender for the WWE Divas Championship but subsequently lost th etitle match against WWE Divas Champion Michelle McCool.

On April 25, 2009, Maria participated in the 25-Diva Battle Royal to crown the first Miss Wrestlemania but she was eliminated by Victoria.
